Rear steel fuel pipe – the one that runs from left to right above the differential – has a slight weep which can be smelt but is not actually dripping
The rear window was smashed before I got the car and the brick has ripped the rear parcel shelf. This also left two tiny dents on the boot lid
Drivers door has a small bit of rust the size of a 10p piece. This is located right in the middle of the lower door panel
Rear left alloy has a slight buckle, this can be felt at 60mph giving the same feeling as if the wheels needed balanced
Bonnet is dented but it hasn’t broken the paint
Fuel gauge reads approx. 60miles high The reason for sale is I have a couple of projects on the go just now so I neither have the spare time, nor money at the moment to rectify the minor flaws. The suspension could do with being refreshed and my plan was to return this to factory standard as if it had just come out the show room. The car when I got it was almost barn find level. It had lay in the guy’s driveway for 7 years untouched since he purchased it in 1998. Completely covered in green moss and tree sap. I have cleaned this to the best of my ability, however the car does require an extensive machine polish to give it a deep and glossy finish. After 7 years however, it only required 4 tyres, 4 springs, fuel pump and a couple of brake lines renewed to get it through an MOT. I got the car with 42000 miles on the clock and used it on and off daily for the last 2 years with countless 500 mile round trips to England the car has ran flawlessly. With loads of grunt from that beautiful sounding V8 under the bonnet it definitely is a motorway cruiser and with the big comfy leather seats and arms rests it’s like riding a cloud. I’ve a feeling I’ll regret selling it as it is a unique car that you don’t see very often now, especially the 540. With its aggressive wheels and stance, it’s a real head turner and I’m sure these will soon be very collectible especially in as good condition as this after 23 years on the road.
